MCB Managing Partner, Jude Covas, has been recognized by Washington SmartCEO as a 2016 Center of Influence Award honoree. Jude is a recognized accounting & tax expert who joined MCB in 1983, became a Principal of the firm in 1990, and has served as Managing Principal since 2004. Jude has a diverse accounting, tax and business background serving clients in all areas including tax planning, financial statement audits and services, employee benefit plan audits and general business advice. His industry specialties include government contracting, commercial real estate, closely held businesses, manufacturing companies and wholesale distributors. According to Jude “I work hard for my clients by consistently striving to go above and beyond and I proactively propose solutions and advice to best position my clients for success. I always want to be the first person my clients call when faced with a business issue or dilemma.”

The Centers of Influence Awards program honors the leadership, innovation, impact and success of the region’s most enterprising accountants, attorneys and bankers. These professionals represent the best and brightest in the region and have demonstrated an unrivaled commitment to their clients. “The relationships with your trusted accountant, attorney, or banker are often formed in stone. They’re there for you when you’re starting out, help you build your dream, and stick by your side long after you’ve achieved it. Deep respect and friendships are formed from long battles in the trenches, high times and low,” says Jaime Nespor-Zawmon, President of SmartCEO. “That’s why these Centers of Influence deserve this distinguished honor — and the meaningful words provided by their CEO nominators. Their stories are truly remarkable.”

Jude was nominated by Bud Morrissette, CEO of Interstate Service Group, a client of Matthews, Carter & Boyce for over 50 years. “Jude’s influence and leadership within our family business has bridged generational gaps” says Bud Morrissette. “The positive outcomes we have experienced are a direct result of the mentoring, advisement and counseling Jude provides to our leadership team.”

This year’s Center of Influence finalists average more than 24 years of experience in their professions and work for firms that employ nearly 800,000 individuals. Honorees were profiled in the September/October issue of SmartCEO magazine and celebrated at an awards ceremony on October 11, 2016 at the National Press Club.
