These email phishing scams are asking for verification of the last four digits of social security numbers and encouraging victims to click on a provided link by citing potential tax fraud. These criminals specifically state that there’s a special effort underway for Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia residents and suggest that recent data breaches may be involved.
